The Spiritual Power of Fringes

We often overlook the spiritual significance of wearing fringes: being more conscious of what they look like on our garments. Fringes are a mandatory part of the Biblical Dresscode and serve a vital purpose in how we walk with God.

Numbers 15:38 - Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:

From the eldest to the youngest of generations we should be wearing fringes with a border of blue upon the borders/hems of our garments.

Why you ask?

Numbers 15:39 - And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:

The fringes are there to remind us to keep the commandments of God and a  symbol of repentance to help us abstain from the wickedness that we have previously done.

Where's the proof this works?

1 Samuel 24:3-6
3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

King Saul was on the hunt for David and unknown to him he had chosen to rest from his pursuit in a cave where David and his men abode.

4 And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the Lord said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily.

The men around David tried to persuade him to take vengeance on Saul for the wrongdoing he committed towards him. In frustration David cut off the skirt/hem of Saul's robe.... Yes, the same hem that would have had fringes on it by law.

5 And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

The moment after Saul's fringes were removed David regained his temperance and remembered the commandments of the Lord, just as Numbers 15:39 says.

6 And he said unto his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord's anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.

David told his men that he was not justified in murdering his fellowman and thus we have read just how powerful fringes can be: lifesaving.
So don't wear your fringes in vain; they come with responsibility.

Zechariah 8:23 - Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

In the days of Christ's kingdom and even presently to an extent; people are going to identify those who God is dealing with by the wearing of fringes. This proves fringes play a role identifying someone who wants to live a Godly life aswell as being one of many criteria for those seeking to be righteous examples/leaders.
